3 Games=2 Wins, One Loss for R-MA Yellow Jackets Soccer
4/18/12 The R-MA Lady Yellow Jackets completed three tough games, one conference and two non-conference. On Thursday April 12 the girls hosted Wakefield Country Day School and won 3-0. McKenzie Marshall '13 and Magda McNeil '13 combined their scoring efforts and were responsible for the three goals.
On Friday the team traveled to Wakefield School to play a very talented and state ranked team. Despite missing several key players the girls fought hard until the final whistle. Although R-MA lost 4-0 the game was more competitive than the score reflected; in fact, the coach called the performance "exceptional."
The girls were able to recover from the loss and the entire team returned to action on Tuesday April 17. R-MA hosted Trinity School, who are last year's state runners up and are currently ranked 6th in the state. The Yellow Jackets came out weak and intimidated but eventually warmed up to the competition. The game was scoreless at halftime but R-MA came out to win the second half. McKenzie Marshall put the Jackets on the scoreboard first when she blasted a shot that the opponents keeper could not handle. Ten minutes later Magda McNeil placed a shot with finesse that cruised right into the net. At that point R-MA focused on defense and walked off the field with a 2-0 victory. Erin Dullahan '12 made many saves in goal and shut out Trinity. Assisting Dullahan on defense was Ashley McManus '13, Allyson McManus '13, Anastasia Voellm '13, and Elaine Nalikka '12.
The team will travel to Riverfront Christian School on Thursday April 19 for their next game.
